When planning more involved procedures like dental implant placement or root canal therapy, we often need more information than what a traditional X-ray can tell us. In these situations, we like to use our KaVO Cone Beam Scanner, which can create a fully 3D X-ray image of a patient’s teeth, mouth, jaw, and surrounding oral structures in exhaustive detail. This kind of image enables us to completely personalize a procedure to a patient’s particular dental anatomy, leading to both a successful treatment as well as an easy recovery.
With the IRIS HD Digital DOC intraoral camera, you’ll finally be able to see your smile from your dentist’s point-of-view (in HD, no less!). This small, camera tipped wand fits easily into the mouth to capture close-up images of the teeth and gums we can then display on a monitor right in the treatment room. These can serve as an excellent visual-aid for patient education and help our team better explain why someone might benefit from a certain treatment.
Compared to traditional film X-rays, modern digital radiography is a significant improvement in just about every way possible. At DFW Absolute Dental, we’re proud to use the KaVo Nomad™, which is a mobile unit that can capture highly detailed X-rays from any angle. The high-resolution images are developed instantly without the need for hours-long darkroom exposure, and any radiation exposure is reduced by up to 90% for maximum patient safety throughout the diagnostic process. These X-rays are also digitally stored and can be copied instantly for referral purposes or insurance approvals.
If you’ve ever had a dental impression taken the traditional way, by biting down onto cold dental putty, then we bet it wasn’t exactly your favorite experience! Thankfully, we can now create highly-accurate impressions 100% digitally. A small scanner is moved around the mouth to capture dozens of unique images of the teeth and gums, and these are then “woven” together to produce a fully 3D model of the bite. This process only takes a few minutes, is quite comfortable, and it even yields a higher-quality impression.
Any treatment we need to perform on the gums is now nice and easy because of the Precise SHP Diode Laser. With its highly concentrated beam of light, we can instantly eliminate bacteria from along the gum line, remove infected tissue, and even provide a cosmetic gum lift in just one appointment. Better yet, the laser itself is so gentle that most patients don’t even need local anesthetic, and post-treatment bleeding and swelling are reduced to the point of being practically nonexistent.
If you’re the type of person who hates getting shots at the dentist, then you’ll love The Wand™. Most of the discomfort felt when receiving local anesthetic is due to a large amount of material being quickly pushed into a very small area, creating that well-known “pinch.” The Wand™ helps prevent this by first applying a topical anesthetic to the area and then administering the rest extremely slowly and evenly, so much so that the body doesn’t register any sensation, let alone pain.
When providing injections of local anesthetic for numbing purposes, we know that some patients may cringe at the sight of a needle. In order to make this process as comfortable and stress-free as possible, Dr. Shahdad now uses the DentalVibe! This technology relies on modern vibration techniques to block any noticeable sensations of pain during the injection. Research shows that when two sensory stimuli occur at the same time (such as the vibrations and the prick of the needle), the vibrations will reach the brain first. As a result, patients enjoy a greater degree of comfort at every stage of treatment.
Are you or your child nervous about going to the dentist? At DFW Absolute Dental, patient comfort is always one of our top priorities, so to help our more anxious patients not dread their appointments, we’re happy to offer sedation dentistry. These safe and effective techniques can be used with any procedure to calm unwanted thoughts and protect patients from physical discomfort at the same time. With them, we can finally take the stress out of someone’s dental care!
